Culturing (Flasks, Stir Plates & Accessories)
Many people ask why they need this gear at home brew level. Culturing or yeast management equipment sold in this category should be the first thing on a brewers list. Good yeast practices enhances the quality of our beer and determines, at best or worst case, weather or not our beer is drinkable or a throw away, not to mention that every beer requires yeast and for this reason it forms a very large cost to all brewers.
By-silicate Flasks, stir bars, reagent bottles, stir plates and so on allow us to manage yeast in a some what controlled environment to give us brewers the best chance of crisp, clean fermentation results that are free from by products or in the worst case infections. Stir plates, flasks and stir bars allow us to re hydrate dry yeast so more yeast cells survive initial pitch and also grow more yeast from very little yeast, saving us money and allowing us as brewers to put the correct amount of yeast (pitch rate) in the amount of wort to be fermented.
Spend more money on the cold side (fermentation) then the hot side (cooking) and you will have more drinkable beer and thus save money. As brewers say, you can stuff up the hot side and get fermentation right and it is drinkable but if you reverse this than the beer is a throw away.
