NANO-X 100L Mash, Cool, Ferment & Distill On Grain – Complete Package
The complete distilling jacketed boiler package that saves distilleries endless amount of equipment costs. This package can also be used to prepare Rum wash but the steps below do alter.
How Does It Work:
During all of the steps below, with the exclusion of the fermentation period and Step 8, your provided agitator should be running
- Step 1: Prepare your mash strike water: Heat water volume required to mash strike temperature. Recommended strike water temperature is 4 to 5 degree above desired mash temperature
- Step 2: Mashing In: Put your grain into the boiler and your agitator will steer the mash. Agitate the mash for 30 minutes whilst your provided controller runs your elements to maintain the desired mash temperature
- Step 3: Mash out: Raise boiler temp to 75 degree using the NANO Boss Controller after a 30 minute agitation period. Hold this temperature for 10 minutes, thus completing a basic mash out
- Step 4: Cool the mash: Cool the mash to yeast pitching temp. Connect a cold water hose (tap water) to the bottom outer jacket port on the boiler and run cold water through the jacket to cool. Remember to connect directional plumbing to the top jacket port of the boiler to run the water coming out to your desired location
- Step 5: Pitch yeast: Add yeast and ferment on grain. To cool the fermenter during fermentation you can connect an ice bank chiller, no glycol required. To heat the fermenter to fermentation temperature use the NANO Boss controller and provided element where heating is required. PLEASE NOTE: Your agitator can be removed after yeast is stirred in and used on a second boiler if you have one. Stir the boiler every 2nd day, using a paddle, during fermentation. Re-apply agitator for next steps
- Step 6: Fermentation complete and now distill: Fermentation is complete and attach your still and distill the fermented wash in the boil
- Step 7: Removing the wash: Remove your still from the top of the boiler and leave the top port open. Connect 2″ brewery hose to the 2″ dumping port on the boiler. Prior to opening your dump valve, add water to the boiler if the grain bed appears to be solid or dry.
- Step 8: Cleaning the boiler: Rinse your boiler to clear out any further solids.
Benefits of this type package (it is a no brainer):
- No need to purchase a separate mash system, fermenters and then a still boiler
- No need to purchase an expensive wort chiller
- Massive labor cost saving in cleaning and producing as there is less equipment to maintain or use
What do you get in this package:
- NANO-X 100L Water jacketed boiler
- 2 X 2200w/10amp/2.2kw elements
- 1 X NANO Boss Domestic 10amp controller
- 10amp Agitator complete
- CIP Fittings and spray ball
- All Tri Clover valves and clamps to complete the package
Boiler Dimensions:
- 550mm Total Diameter and inner jacket has a 500mm Diameter
- 830mm Height from the base of the legs to the top of the 8″ Tri Clamp/Tri Clover ferrule (does not include leveling feet or wheel height)
100L NANO-X Jacketed Distilling Boiler – Inner Jacket
- 1.5mm Thick 304SS Stainless Steel
- 1 X 8″ Top Tri Clamp/Tri Clover Mounting Port
- 2 X 3.5″ Tri Clamp/Tri Clover Forward Viewing Port located to the front of the 8″ port allowing view of boiler contents and the fitting of an agitator on the second port
- 3 X 1.5″ Tri Clamp/Tri Clover port on top of the boiler for a host of other accessories available at Cheeky Peak Brewery
- 3 X 1.5″ Tri Clamp/Tri Clover ports located on the body of the boiler and through to inner jacket. These ports are for thermowells, valves and any other items you wish to use them for
- 1 X 1.5″ Whirlpool port
- 1 X 2″ Tri Clamp/Tri Clover Dump port which draws from the middle of the Inner Jacket Dished Bottom. The dump port is fabricated with an elbow and then pipe work that runs through to the outer jacket to the front of the boiler
100L NANO-X Jacketed Distilling Boiler – Outer Jacket
- 2 X 2″ Tri Clamp/Tri Clover ferrules for ports to enable 2 X Elements to be mounted at the base of the boiler. The elements go into the water surrounding the inner jacket, meaning, elements never come into contact with contents in the boiler. This is the ultimate boiler for any boiling application
- 2 X 1.5″ Tri Clamp/Tri Clover ferrules, located on the body of the boiler. These ports allow for sight glasses to be installed to ensure water level is above elements. The top 1.5″ port also allows for jacket pressure relief which is vital when boiling water within a jacketed boiler. (Pressure relief is a must for this type of boiler and not a negotiable)
- 1 X 1.5″ Tri Clamp/Tri Clover ferrule at the base of the boiler to allow for complete draining of water from the jacket
- 4 X 304SS Legs and Leveling feet supplied with the boiler.
