NANO-X 2.0 200L Water Jacketed Boiler with Agitator

Mash, ferment & distill on grain with our Water Jacketed Boilers and Agitator packages. This package can also be used to prepare, ferment and Distill Rum but the steps below do alter.

Benefits of this type package:

• No need to purchase a separate mash system, fermenters and then a still boiler
• No need to purchase an expensive wort chiller
• Massive labor cost saving in cleaning and producing as there is less equipment to maintain or use
• No need to ever clean elements. Elements are placed into the outer water jacket in order to heat the water in the outer jacket. The heated water then heats the inner tank content
• No need for element float switches as elements are not directly within a distillers wash

200L NANO-X Jacketed Distilling Boiler – Inner Jacket

• 1.5mm Thick 304SS Stainless Steel
• 1 X 10″ Top Tri Clamp/Tri Clover Mounting Port for your still (we off a host of reducers to suit any still – Sold Separately)
• 2 X 3.5″ Tri Clamp/Tri Clover Forward Viewing Port located to the front of the 10″ port allowing view of boiler contents and the fitting of an agitator on the second port
• 3 X 1.5″ Tri Clamp/Tri Clover port on top of the boiler for a host of other accessories available at Cheeky Peak Brewery
• 3 X 1.5″ Tri Clamp/Tri Clover ports located on the body of the boiler and through to inner jacket. These ports are for thermowells, valves and any other items you wish to use them for
• 1 X 1.5″ Sample port
• 1 X 2″ Tri Clamp/Tri Clover Dump port which draws from the middle of the Inner Jacket Dished Bottom. The dump port is fabricated with an elbow and then pipe work that runs through to the outer jacket to the front of the boiler

200L NANO-X Jacketed Distilling Boiler – Outer Jacket

• 2 X 2″ Tri Clamp/Tri Clover ferrules for ports to enable 2 X Elements to be mounted at the base of the boiler. The elements go into the water surrounding the inner jacket, meaning, elements never come into contact with contents in the boiler. This is the ultimate boiler for any boiling application
• 2 X 1.5″ Tri Clamp/Tri Clover ferrules, located on the body of the boiler. These ports allow for sight glasses to be installed to ensure water level is above elements. The top 1.5″ port also allows for jacket pressure relief which is vital when boiling water within a jacketed boiler. (Pressure relief is a must for this type of boiler and not a negotiable)
• 1 X 1.5″ Tri Clamp/Tri Clover ferrule at the base of the boiler to allow for complete draining of water from the jacket
• 4 X 304SS Legs and Leveling feet supplied with the boiler.

How Does It Work:

During all of the steps below, with the exclusion of the fermentation period and Step 8, your provided agitator should be running

• Step 1: Prepare your mash strike water: Heat water volume required to mash strike temperature.  Recommended strike water temperature is 4 to 5 degree above desired mash temperature
• Step 2: Mashing In: Put your grain into the boiler and your agitator will steer the mash. Agitate the mash for 30 minutes
• Step 3: Mash out: Raise boiler temp to 75 degree after a 30 minute agitation period. Hold this temperature for 10 minutes, thus completing a basic mash out
• Step 4: Cool the mash: Cool the mash to yeast pitching temp
• Step 5: Pitch yeast: Add yeast and ferment on grain. To cool the fermenter during fermentation you can connect an ice bank chiller, no glycol required. To heat the fermenter to fermentation temperature
• Step 6: Fermentation complete and now distill: Fermentation is complete and attach your still and distill the fermented wash in the boiler
• Step 7: Removing the wash: There 3 ways for the wash or slurry to be removed. 1. Pump the slurry out using a centrifugal pump as this type of pump handles solids. 2. Force the slurry out by applying CO2 pressure. 3. Gravity dump the slurry. When dumping you can run the agitator and add more water to loosen the slurry, making it more fluid
• Step 8: Clean the boiler:

COOLING WARNING: When cooling your wash or the boiler ensure the outer jacket and inner jacket have an open port to allow air into each section of the boiler. If your boiler outside water jacket and the inner tank is sealed and not able to breath then a vacuum can occur. A vacuum will cause massive damage to your new boiler and is not covered under warranty as we consider this to be user error.

1. Cooling Naturally: Cooling naturally is basically done by leaving the water in the outer jacket and the content in the inner tank over night to cool. To avoid a vacuum in this scenario open a port on the top of the boiler allowing air into the inner tank. Secondly open the top 1.5″ Pullover Butterfly valve or water outlet valve of the water jacket to allow air into the outer water jacket. If you are concerned with bacteria getting into your wash then you can purchase a 0.2 Micron Air Filter – Airlock or Aeration that filters bacteria out of the drawn air into the inner boiler tank.
2. Cooling with cold water through the outer water jacket: To avoid a vacuum in this scenario open a top port on the inner skin to allow the inner tank to draw air as needed. In regards to the outer jacket:
   1. Shut the vertical 3 piece valve off thus preventing water flowing up through the water level sight glass or water jacket level indicator tubing
   2. Fully open the 1.5″ Pullover Butterfly valve at the top outlet of the water jacket
   3. Use a minimum of 1.5″ hose off the water outlet and to the drain. try to keep this short
   4. If you have strong water pressure then reduce this pressure down to 500L to 700L per hour flow rate
   5. Ensure your supplied anti vacuum valve is in place and serviced
