STEEPING SPECIALTY GRAINS

Steeping specialty grains is the first step for advancing your extract brewing. This process will enable you to have more control over the final product by allowing you to add specific flavors and colour to your beer.

Here’s how to do it…

STEP 1: Fill pot with 6–8L of water and heat to 70 C.

STEP 2: Add steeping grains into a grain bag and place in your pot of 70 C water. Leave to steep for 10 minutes.

STEP 3: Remove steeping grains from pot and dispose.

STEP 4: Bring pot up to a boil. At boiling mix in extracts until dissolved.

BOILING HOPS

By using un-hopped malt extract and boiling your own hops, it allows you to dial in the perfect hop profile.

Follow these steps…

STEP 1: After dissolving the extract in your pot, bring back up to a boil.

STEP 2: At boiling begin to add your hops into the boiling wort at the designated times according to your recipe.

*Each recipe will have different hop addition times specific to that recipe.

STEP 3: At the conclusion of your boiling time, pour the wort (through a strainer) into your fermenter

STEP 4: Proceed your brewday as normal.
